A New Dialog and Cooperation Process in IEF Education in Turkey

​Specialized academics from Turkish universities that offers Islamic Economics and Finance education gathered and met with Porf. Khaliq Ahmad and Prof. Maliah Suleyman from International Islamic University of Malaysia in the Istanbul branch of Central Bank of Turkey. The meeting was organized by Prof. Necdet Şensoy, member of the Board of CB. Istanbul University was represented by Prof. Servet Bayındır, Assoc.Prof. Mehmet Saraç, Assoc.Prof. Necmettin Kızılkaya and Assoc.Prof. Taner Akan. Also representatives from Sakarya, Marmara, S. Zaim, İstanbul Ticaret and Karatay Universities participated the meeting.

Prof. Ahmad presented the Malaysian Islamic Finance Education report, followed by our Director Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Saraç’s presentation of IEF Education in Turkey, with special emphasis on IU. Subsequently, representatives of other universities too elaborated their programs and opinions. As a result of the common conclusion that both countries should share their experience, information and opinions and a cooperation process in curriculum development should take place among the Turkish universities, the participants agreed on a Workshop on Curriculum Development to be held in July 2017.
